Version 9.1

Masterplan 9.1 can now be downloaded from the website.

New features include the ability to mark PCs as inactive (useful for sessions with absent players), the ability to suggest a race / class combination to fill a missing party role, and the ability to include HTML tags in plot point descriptions and read-aloud text.

WooHoo! My most wanted feature HTML tags in plot point descriptions and read-aloud text.

    I don’t know what’s left to do.

    Thanks

Hoping to see the ability to add custom skills in masterplan soon so that I can finish fleshing out some of the non-wotc games I run. Is it in the works?

  • Masterplan Says:

You can use custom skills wherever you like; how might we make this easier to do?

Awesome new features, do you have a place we can send feedback/requests? My players had a bunch of suggestions after we did our first couple sessions using the masterplan on a PC.

  • Masterplan Says:

You can send feedback by using the link in the Help menu, or on the Facebook page, or here.

It would be great to add a feature to maps that help keep track of the altitude the players are at in squares. I love masterplan!!!

How about a way to label the lines coming off of each plot point? For example, on a skill challenge, you can see at a glance which path to follow if the party is successful or not.

What I have seen so far has blown my mind. Read the manual and was amazed. However it seems I have a problem with libraries. I cannot import any, since I have no import option and there are no sample libraries.

Another point is that the manual does not state where to get them from. I have an active DnD Insider subscription and am not afraid to buy awesome content if it is provided.

So my question is, what am I missing?

    P.S.: I am using Masterplan on a Windows 7 machine with .Net 3.5 SP1.

  • Masterplan Says:

If you save the HTML pages from the compendium you can import creatures, traps and magic items.

If you export custom creatures from the Monster Builder you can import them into Masterplan.

  • Eric Says:

Could you elaborate on how to import? In the manual it states there should be an “import” option when opting to add a new creature. However, the add button only opens a dialog box querying me for the name of the monster.

We should probably move this conversation. I do not use Facebook. Would you agree to discuss this per e-mail?

  • Masterplan Says:

There is a down-arrow beside the Add button.

  • Eric Says:

Ah I see now. Sorry! It seemed to me that you could import a library. Turns out you have to import monster by monster? Would that be something you will be looking into for the future? It seems rather tedious to add items one at a time rather than have prepopulated libraries to choose from.

So far I admire your work and I am looking forward to what the future might hold! Are you guys by any chance looking for engineers to help you on the project? ^^

  • Masterplan Says:

Previous versions did allow you to import data directly from the Compendium; if you would like to see this feature reinstated you are welcome to contact WotC.

  • wshoffner Says:

I believe the reason for the feature’s removal was that libraries built from the compendium could easily be shared with non-subscribers thus bypassing the site’s subscription model.

  • wshoffner Says:

Is there any possibility of getting the ability to track XP on a per-PC basis? Sometimes PCs have to sit out a session due to players being absent, or a PC simply isn’t with the party during a fight due to in-game circumstances.

Can anyone please help me with HTML Tags. I am using version 10 but I cannot seem top get my HTML tagging correct. For example when I try to link to the town of Kiris Dahn from the adventure synopsis It just shows the text I type not a Link to the Encyclopedia.

I am typing the following to get the Tag

[[Kiris Dahn | Kiris Dahn]] I have also tried [[Kiris Dahn]] still no luck. can anyone please offer me and assistance.

    Thanks

  • Löki Says:

@Barry Fee Take out the spaces between the text and object:
    [[Kiris Dahn|Kiris Dahn]]
